Writing Multiple Series Simultaneously + Exclusive Excerpt From Gaining Trust (Kiss of Leather 5)

Hi everyone! First off, I’d like to thank Mychael for having me here today. I’ve been busy working on a few different series at the same, so there have been some longer gaps than usual in-between installments. Most of my series don’t have evil cliffhangers, and none of my current ones do. However, I might have side characters sans HEA or an underlying intrigue that needs to be resolved, so I realize that taking too long before the next book comes out can be extremely frustrating to the reader. I get frustrated by that too when reading series I’m invested in emotionally!

But I’ve learned through experience that not only does life happen, but the pesky muse can force my hand as well. For example, the Play Series was literally mean to be a short novella. That was it. Nothing else. The end. No more. Yeah, well… When I probably should’ve been writing another Soul Match or Kiss of Leather, or even a Hampton Road or Sin City, I had to get Phil and Terry’s next story out. Because, sure enough, an intrigue had been left unresolved, one I’d never intended to include in the first place, so it couldn’t wait. At least in my muse’s mind it couldn’t.

I’m hard at work this year, though. I have very limited commitments to cons or signings. As a matter of fact, my butt will remain plastered to this computer chair until mid-October for GRL. This should give me plenty of time to get more of those missing installments out there. Including more Phil and Terry. Predicament Play anyone? *grins*

But for now, I did finally get to Chuck and Jordan’s long-awaited story from Kiss of Leather. And since Mychael has been so nice to let me hijack the blog, here’s a tasty exclusive excerpt for your enjoyment!

“I wasn’t a virgin.”

Jordan rolled his eyes, then tapped Chuck’s hip to encourage him onto his side again. “Babe, I never thought you were a virgin. You did say that it had been a while though, and other than that I have very little information on your sexual history, okay?”

Chuck lowered his gaze. “I never liked it so much before. And it’s not that I want to top either.”

Chuck idly played with one of Jordan’s nipple rings, which was only making it harder to concentrate. He wouldn’t tell him to stop, though. His plan was to keep encouraging Chuck to be as comfortable as possible in intimate situations.

He continued. “I thought maybe I was one of those guys who just wasn’t into it.”

“That’s okay too, you know.”

Chuck finally lifted his eyes and smiled. “What’s nice is that I know you actually mean that.” He shrugged one shoulder. “But it doesn’t matter now, because, wow.” Chuck bit his lip. “I’ll bottom whenever you want.”

“You mean you’ll bottom whenever you’re not sore, right?”

Chuck grinned. “Yes, Sir.”

He twisted the ring and Jordan gasped. Chuck’s eyes went wide as he jerked his hand away. Jordan took it and placed it back on his taut nipple.

“That was a good sound. It felt nice.”

Chuck slid the piercing through the tiny nub of flesh, but with more hesitance.

“Unless you were to really rip that out of my chest, you can’t actually hurt me. Even a bite of pain would give me pleasure.”

“I can’t imagine what that must’ve been like to get done.” Chuck stared at it with fascination.

Hmm. “It was a sharp pinch, then it was over with.”

Chuck snorted. “Oh, come on. It must’ve been more than that. My nipples are so sensitive, I think I’d be screaming to the high heavens.”

Does he have the slightest clue how freaking cute he is? “Oh? That’s good information. I bet you’d get a lot out of a nipple piercing.”

Instead of flushing, Chuck’s skin had gone distinctively pale. “I don’t.”

“That’s okay, babe.” He kissed the tip of Chuck’s nose. “I was thinking more along the lines of a guiche for you.”

“A…say that again?”

“Guiche. Your perineum.”

Chuck huffed. “You’re making fun of me. No one gets their perineum pierced. I know guys get the end of their penis done, which is insane, but the perineum? That doesn’t make any sense.”

Damn, I’m having too much fun.

“The next time we’re at Kiss of Leather on a club night, you should have Gavin show you his PA. He has a rather heavy ring for his.” Jordan loved the growing look of horror on Chuck’s face. “I bet Kyle never complains.”

“That’s…” Chuck swallowed hard. “Are you messing with me?”

Jordan couldn’t hold back, he had to laugh—even if he wasn’t teasing. Well, not that much. “I swear babe, I’m telling you the truth. Ask him.”

Chuck frowned. “I’m not going to ask a man who’s not my lover to show me his dick. Especially not one I’m working for.”
